Rumours: The expected difference between the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21.
After a year of use, we were impressed by Samsung’s Galaxy S21, which delivered solid all-around performance. But how will it fare against the Galaxy S22 this year?
However, we haven’t received any official information about the Galaxy S21 FE, despite seeing the device in action.
During the interim, however, rumours suggest that the Galaxy S22 lineup will include camera, processor, and battery upgrades, all at a cost comparable to the Galaxy S21.
Even though the Galaxy S22’s exact release date is still unknown, leaker Jon Prosper believes that Samsung’s new smartphone will be unveiled during the company’s Unpacked event in February this year.
According to previous rumours from Pulse New Korea, the new phone lineup could be available in January. At the beginning of January 2021, the Galaxy S21 was officially unveiled.
According to the phone manufacturer, this departure from its previous schedule, which usually releases or unvails the Galaxy S Series in February.
It is comprised of three smartphones: the Galaxy S21 (basic model), the Galaxy S21 Plus (plus model), and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (ultra model). (See CNET’s Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Ultra reviews for more information.)
If leaks about the phones’ screen sizes are to be believed, the Galaxy S22 series will be a three-phone lineup, with a standard, Plus, and Ultra model for each model number.
As of now, here are the specifications of the Galaxy S22 that have been rumoured, along with a comparison of these specifications to those of the Galaxy S21.
Keep in mind that Samsung has not confirmed any of the Galaxy S22 specifications. As new information is made available, we’ll update this story accordingly.

COST: The Galaxy S22 and S21 are expected to be priced similarly.
We haven’t heard any credible rumours about the upcoming Galaxy S22 lineup’s price yet, but we anticipate that Samsung will keep prices consistent with last year’s flagship handset.
Compared to the previous year’s flagship, the Galaxy S20, the South Korean electronics giant has cut the price of its Galaxy S21 handset by $200.
We would be surprised if the company raised the price significantly this year. According to the model, the Galaxy S21 costs $799 and $1,379 (USD).
Availability and Prices for Samsung Galaxy S21 in the United States
Galaxy S21 US Pricing
Galaxy S21…………( 128GB $ 799 ) ( 256GB $ 849 ) ( 512GB N/A )
Galaxy S21 Plus….( 128GB $ 999 ) ( 256GB $1,049 ) ( 512GB N/A )
Galaxy 21 Ultra…..( 128GB $1,199, ) ( 256GB $1,249, ) ( 512GB $1,379, )
It will be thinner than the S21 and have a smaller display than the S21.
Galaxy S22 models, according to leaker Mauri QHD, are expected to be slightly smaller and thinner than the S21 model.
Galaxy S22 is expected to come in three different sizes: 6.06 inches, 6.55 inches, and 6.81 inches, according to speculation.
According to Samsung, the standard Galaxy S21 is 6.2 inches in size, the S21 Plus is 6.7 inches in size, and the S21 Ultra is 6.8 inches in size.
Mauri QHD also speculates that the Galaxy S22’s battery may be smaller due to the thinner design. 4,000- to 4,500-mAh is the battery’s capacity in the Galaxy S21.
Compared to Samsung’s previous phone models, the anticipated shrinkage of the Galaxy S22 is unusual.
Over time, the Samsung Galaxy S series has grown in size, starting with the Galaxy S10 (150x70x7.8mm) and progressing to the Galaxy S20 (152x69x7.9mm) and finally the Galaxy S21 (152x69x7.9mm) (152x71x7.9mm).
Although we don’t know what the Galaxy S22 model will look like, renderings from the blog LetsGoDigital and digital artist Giuseppe Spinelli suggest that Samsung’s new phone will have a design that is similar to the Galaxy S21 lineup, with a metal camera block on the top left corner and a punch-hole camera in its top centre position.
Using information about the Galaxy S22 lineup’s design obtained from LetsGoDigital and Super Roader, a former South Korean Samsung employee, the renders were created by commissioning Spinelli to create phone images based on the information they had obtained.
Availability of new colours:
The Galaxy S22 may be available in various colours not available with the Galaxy S21. A total of six colour options were available for the Galaxy S21.
Aside from standard colours like black and white, there were also purple and pink hues that looked like chrome.
The Dutch blog Galaxy Club report claims that the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be available in four colour options: white, black, rose gold, and green.
Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the new green colour is said to be similar to the Phantom Green. According to the blog, in addition to white and black, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may also be available in a new dark red shade.
It was previously reported that the Galaxy S22 would be available in light pink and green colour options, according to LetsGoDigital.
During Samsung’s Unpacked event in August 2021, the blog speculated that the company may have made a hint about the possibility of new colours being introduced.
Samsung demonstrated the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s compatibility with the S Pen stylus at one point during its Unpacked presentation (around 46 minutes into the show).
At this point, the words “SS22 colours” are written onto the foldable phone. There is a separate window with a light green plaid pair of pants and a baby pink jacket with the words “Pistachio Green” and “Flamingo Pink” written on them, and the text appears next to them.
These new colours for the Galaxy S22 are a possibility, but we won’t know for sure until the phone makes its official debut on February 14.
Enhanced camera capabilities:
The Galaxy S22 will receive the camera improvements that the S21 did not receive. While Samsung has kept the camera options for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 essentially the same, it is possible that it will upgrade the selection for the Galaxy S22.
Preliminary reports claim that the main camera on the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be 200 megapixels.
If the rumours are right, this would be the Samsung phone with the highest pixel count currently available. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a 108-megapixel wide-angle camera.
In March, it all started with a teaser tweet from Samsung Exynos, the electronic company’s chipmaking division, teased a phone camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels.
Perhaps the upgrade will be brought about by a potential collaboration with Olympus.
While leaked information suggests the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have an improved version of Samsung’s third-generation 108-megapixel camera sensor, Ice Universe speculates that the device will have an even better version (Isocell HM3).
According to 91Mobiles, a leaked spec sheet for the Galaxy S22 shows that the phone will have a 108-megapixel camera with a SuperClear lens, in addition to the usual 12-megapixel camera.
According to current rumours, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will also have an under-display selfie camera, but the location of this camera is unclear.
Some believe that Samsung has filed a patent for a punch-hole camera with a sub-display that moves away when the camera is needed.
In contrast, others believe that the hidden front camera will not be included in the upcoming Galaxy S22 because the camera quality isn’t good enough for the phone.
The camera configuration for the upcoming Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus may not be particularly exciting.
The models are expected to have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with a 3x zoom.
The regular and plus models of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S20, on the other hand, had a 12-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, respectively.
Snapdragon 895 processor:
Will the Galaxy S22 be equipped with this processor? Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S22 will benefit from an increase in performance.
As reported by Ice Universe, the new flagship phone could be equipped with a more powerful Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 895, according to the leaker.
Comparatively, the Snapdragon 888 is found in the Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphone. Earlier this year, Qualcomm announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus release.
According to Ice Universe, Samsung could be the company responsible for manufacturing the new smartphone processor.
According to rumours, the increase in processing power will be accompanied by an increase in graphics performance, respectively. As a result of a partnership with Samsung and AMD, the Galaxy S22 may be equipped with an AMD graphics processor.
According to the Dutch blog LetsGoDigital, the Galaxy S22 may also include an active fan mode to cool the phone when gaming or performing other intensive tasks.
According to some reports, with the ability to support 65-watt charging, the Galaxy S22 could provide faster power-up times than the S21.
The Galaxy S22 lineup, according to leaker FrontTron, could be getting an upgrade with 65-watt charging support. According to a tip posted on Twitter, Rainbow RGB, a rumoured codename for the S22 series, is currently in the testing phase for 65-watt charging support.
According to the speculation, the Galaxy S22 would have significantly faster charging times than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups, which both have 25-watt charging technology.
According to leaked information from Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will also support 45-watt fast charging. In 35 minutes, the tipster claims, this will fully charge the phone’s battery to 70% capacity.
Contains the following items: Even with the S22 and S21, there is still no charger included in the box.
Even though the battery life of the upcoming Galaxy S22 line is unknown, Samsung confirmed earlier this year that, beginning with the Galaxy S21 line, future smartphones will not come with chargers or headphones pre-installed on them.
